Get Him To The Greek – Review
June 9, 2010 in All, Comedy, Movie Reviews, New Releases
Get Him To The Greek is the hilarious offspring of Nicholas Stoller’s (wrote and directed) previous film Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Aaron Greenberg (Jonah Hill) is sent to London to escort Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to LA’s Greek Theatre for a show that promises to jump start his failing career. Nicholas Stoller has definately one upped his last film with what is easily this year’s The Hangover(but better). There’s even a nod to Sarah Marshall, which I also liked a lot, but the two films have a completely different kind of energy.
Performances are hilariously top notch. Russell Brand and Jonah Hill are great together, but the big surprise here was Sean Combs (P.Diddy) as the record producer, and Hill’s boss Sergio Roma. Combs had me laughing so hard at points I thought I was going to pass out! The Las Vegas hotel room scene was bar none one of the funniest segments I’ve seen in recent memory! Throw in a ton of cameos… and Colm Meaney, and you have a recipe for awesome!
Y’know though, when I was leaving the theatre I couldn’t help but feel there was something missing. I got home fired up the trailer, and whoa… there was a bunch of stuff missing. Normally this would bother me a lot, but in this case I left satisfied… and a little red from laughing so hard. Maybe there were promo scenes shot specifically for the trailer, but… and it seems more likely, there’s probably gonna be a kick ass unrated edition on DVD and Blu Ray with a lot of extra footage.
Get Him To The Greek is one hell of a funny movie, maybe aimed more towards a male audience, but easily the best comedy to hit theatres this year!

The only fault on your review is that I think you are a 1/2 star short. Not only is this the best comedy of the year, I would have it as best film of the year.
Diddy was amazing, Brand and Hill were superb and I am already waiting for the extra footage in the unrated DVD.
If you don’t like movies like Superbad, Hangover etc… than you’ll probably want to miss this one, stay home and hang your head in shame.
I agree, best comedy this year with its only real competition sitting in a time travelling hot tub… which was the best before this came along! I think that perfect 5 star rating will be better deserrved when the Blu Ray hits.
I could accept the logic, knowing that the unrated DVD will be even better than the cinema film…that was until you gave the A-Team 5 stars. I haven’t seen the A-Team, probably will later this week, and I can suspend disbeleif with the best of them, but assuming you like the genres equally, are you saying that the A-Team is a better movie (5-stars to 4.5-stars)than Get Him to the Greek?
My opinion only, but yup… thats what I’m saying. A-Team was just balls out crazy fun!
